Here is a decription of our annual events, click here for date and location of this year's events:
Annual Family Picnic: This event kicks off our year and is an opportunity to come see old friends and welcome new ones. Families are welcome. Everyone brings a dish and beer or wine (optional). Burgers hotdogs, and paper goods are provided.
KAO Day of Service: This event provides an opportunity to work along the college women to prepare for the Annual CASA fundraiser, CASABlanca that is scheduled for October 24th. Collectively we will use our volunteer womanpower and creativity to assist the planning committee with event related projects. A time for fun and fellowship in service of a good cause.
CASAblanca Gala Event: An evening to celebrate and support Monroe County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). A Moroccan inspired evening to include casino gaming (entertainment only), light Moroccan food, signature cocktails, music, dancing and other fun activities.
Halloween Party Celebrate Halloween with your family at the Theta house. The event includes activities and “trick or treating” through the halls of Theta for your children.
Traditional Theta Holiday party: This annual tradition includes your honey or significant other and our friends from CASA. It is always a special occasion and wonderful way to kick off the holiday season with friends.
Volunteer opportunity during Preference round of recruitment Alumni are invited to provide behind the scenes help with the food service (dessert) served during the final three rounds of recruitment. It is a fun chance to be part of the vibe of recruitment and witness the special programming that goes on at this round of parties.
Founders Day Celebration: This annual tradition marks the anniversary of Theta’s founding on January 27, 1870. It is a time to come together as alumnae and college women to celebrate our founders and honor the traditions of our fraternity. The event will include coffee and dessert and a short program and meeting.
Senior Celebration: This event recognizes and celebrates the graduating seniors and honors our individual commitment to “Theta for a lifetime”. A strong alumnae presence in this transition service demonstrates our lifelong commitment to our organization and sets an example for graduating members as they transition to alumnae status. Please join us for refreshments and celebration.
Senior Graduation Brunch: This special event is for our Alumnae Chapter, the Beta Chapter Advisory Board and the Beta Chapter House Corporation Board host the graduates and their families. It gives families an opportunity to have lunch and celebrate their graduate in the comfort of the chapter house rather than a local restaurant. It also gives local alumnae an opportunity to congratulate our seniors and give them a proper send off. The food is catered by the Chapter house and alumnae members provide the volunteer womanpower for the special event.
Salad pitch-in and year-end wrap up: This annual event is our final meeting of the year. It is an opportunity to come together one final time before we head into the summer. We will review the year’s successes and make plans for the upcoming year. Bring a salad or desert and wine if you like. Drinks, paper goods and bread will be provided.
Habitat for Humanity Women Build: Typically in early to mid May, Monroe County women come together for a building blitz of two family homes. Our alumnae chapter supports this cause in force with our members serving as team leaders and volunteers. Watch for information about how you can join a team for this very rewarding community event.
Theta Meet-ups: back again: These very casual events are meant to provide very easy opportunities for us to “meet-up” for fun and togetherness. We will use a “crowd-sourcing” approach so everyone is welcome to offer ideas. Consider rallying a group to attend a local event, meet for a glass of wine after work, make a “play date” at the park for moms with young children. Get creative and plan something fun and spontaneous and include your Theta friends. To get the word out email your plans to Alisa Hendrix (Alisa.firstname.lastname@example.org). We will use our email system and facebook to communicate upcoming events.
